  22. You are looking upon the situation from the wrong angle IMHO.
  23. 'ls' does not need to know about TEXINPUTS, but I expected the search 
  24. algorithm to read the ls-R database, store it in memory and then search 
  25. through THIS information USING the values of TEXINPUTS, TEXFONTS etc.
  26. Instead of using TEXINPUTS et al. and reading directories (over and over 
  27. again), i.e. the 'old' method.

  39. Wrong approach. One ls-R is just fine, but the search should then be done 
  40. in the directory information provided by this database and not taking

  55. can be improved IMHO.
